Manage Pain & Swelling
Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek for 15-minute intervals. Take over-the-counter pain relievers as directed. Rinse gently with warm salt water to keep the area clean and reduce inflammation.

Preserve the Tooth if Knocked Out
Handle the tooth by the crown only — never touch the root. Rinse gently with water without scrubbing. Try to reinsert it into the socket. If that is not possible, store it in milk or saline solution and bring it with you.

Protect Broken Teeth
If the tooth has a sharp edge, cover it with dental wax or sugarless gum to protect your tongue and cheek. Collect any broken fragments and bring them to your appointment.

Yes. We reserve appointment slots every day specifically for emergency patients. When you call (916) 635-1191, we prioritize your needs and get you in as quickly as possible — often the same day. Your comfort and oral health are our top priority.
Pick up the tooth by the crown (the chewing surface), not the root. Gently rinse it with water without scrubbing or using soap. If possible, try to place it back in the socket. If that is not possible, keep it moist by placing it in milk, saline solution, or between your cheek and gums. Time is critical — call us immediately and come in right away.
Absolutely. Toothaches are among the most common dental emergencies we treat. They often indicate underlying decay, infection, or an abscess. We will examine you promptly, diagnose the cause with digital X-rays if needed, and provide appropriate treatment — whether that is a filling, root canal therapy, or extraction — to relieve your pain immediately.
Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek for 15 minutes on, 15 minutes off to reduce swelling. Take over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen as directed. Rinse your mouth gently with warm salt water several times a day. Avoid chewing on the affected side and steer clear of very hot or cold foods. Do not place aspirin directly on your gums, as this can cause chemical burns.
